  1. If you specify a backup file, the Public Contact Server database file is automatically backed up at 12:00 midnight every night. The Public Contact Server must be running at midnight for the backup to occur; if not, the backup occurs the next time you start up the Server Macintosh and open the Public Contact Server application.

  3. To specify a Server database backup file:
  4. 1. Click the Configure Server button in the Server status window Toolbar, or choose "Setup…" from the Server menu. The Server Configuration dialog box appears.

  6. 2. Click "Backup File…". A standard directory dialog box appears.

  8. 3. Type a name for the backup file in the "Save As" field, or accept the default backup filename (the name of the Server followed by ".db.bu").

  10. 4. Select a location for the backup file, or accept the default location (the Now Contact Prefs folder in your Preferences folder).

  12. 5. Click "Save." Your backup file is created in the location you specified and you return to the Server Configuration dialog box.

  16. NOTE: In addition to the automatic backups, you should back up the database file periodically by dragging it to a floppy disk or other backup media.
